Umutcan B., 16, lives in İzmir. His father became unemployed due to factory closure in August 2021. His family has difficulties in educating Umutcan and his brother and in providing for the house.
Umutcan's only wish right now is to be able to get into the university and therefore he has to receive the necessary education. Although he wants to go to the private teaching schools and further his education like his other friends, this seems unlikely because the family can't even afford to buy a question bank book. Umutcan is trying to prepare for university exams with second-hand books.
Umutcan's persues his education at Gazi Anatolian High School with 83 points and he told us:
"I don't even know how I can use the donation I will receive. Time will tell whether it will be for the tuition fee, the cost of nutrition or the question books I will get. I have to think about my future."
